Job Description:
John Deere Landscapes is the nations largest distributor of nursery, irrigation, outdoor lighting, landscape supplies, fertilizers, turf protection products, grass seed, turf care equipment, and golf course accessories. Our mission is to be the distributor of choice for green industry professionals. We currently employ more than 2,500 employees in over 615 locations throughout North America.
 
We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager I for our Rivera Beach, FL facility.  This position manages the branch operations and drives toward increased market share within an assigned territory.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts on-site visits to current and prospective customers promoting company products and services in order to increase sales.
  • Attains sales goals and Shareholder Value Added (SVA) objectives for the branch through management of strategic sales plan and effective utilization of company assets and staff.
  • Manages and participates in the sales transactions of the branch, including counter and phone sales as well as arranging product delivery.
  • Determines customer pricing levels for product purchases and makes point-of-sale pricing determinations in order to secure sales.
  • Ensures the protection and proper utilization of all branch assets, including inventory, equipment and facility.
  • Manages the branch accounting functions, including invoicing, cash drawer procedures and balancing, return on assets, banking & petty cash.
  • Oversees all administrative functions of the branch, including sales transactions, purchase orders, product transfers and defective goods disposition.
  • Maintains consistent flow of information to area manager concerning the   operations of the branch.

Experience and Skills:
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Three or more years of experience in green distribution, irrigation, nursery or landscape industry. Practical agronomic and/or turf knowledge/experience. This would include, but not be limited to, landscaping, pest control, or experience with pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and fungicides.
  3. Solid customer service and inventory management skills.
  4. Possess a valid drivers license.
  5. Must be self-directed and motivated, and act in an entrepreneurial fashion.
  6. Strong communication and excellent problem solving skills.
  7. The ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
